Scarf (duputta) upcycle |17|

I love to personalise my traditional indian outfits that I wear to the sikh temple or to attend any prayer function.

A requirement at any of these gatherings is to cover one’s head as a sign of respect using a piece of lightweight fabric which is usually at least 2 metres in length and known as ‘duputta’ or ‘chunni’.

This project I did about 2 years ago (in 2014) by purchasing some flowery printed fabric from spotlight and adding some ribbon and sequinned trim to it. Since then I have only worn it a couple of times but I have fond memories of it as it was the starting point for my creativity in terms of my indian outfits 🙂
